Vegtam

Vegtam
The Edda Vegtamskvida, the Lay of Vegtam the Wanderer, or sometimes known as Balder’s Dream, tells how Balder, having been tormented with dreams of death, the Aesir assembled in council and empowered Frigg to extract an oath from all things living that they would not harm Balder. Odin, feeling that the precautions taken were insufficient, rode on his horse Sleipnir to visit Hel, there to consult the famous Völva, whom he causes to rise up from her grave, only to hear from her that Balder was doomed to fall by the hand of Hoder. This seems to be even older than the Völuspa, which quotes several lines from it.
